I failed to mention that I’m no longer participating in my self-imposed daily food celebration challenge… not because I wasn’t successful, but because I totally underestimated how expensive it is to make something new EVERY day (or to dine out anytime something wasn’t really recipe-friendly or accessible.)

That’s my primary reason for not updating as frequently lately, even though I should be since there is quite a bit happening on the non-food front. So, REMINDER TO SELF!

The best way to eat Nutella.

The best way to eat Nutella.

I’m not gonna lie. Last night’s semi-catch-up dinner was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while: Stuffed Mushrooms for National Stuffed Mushroom Day (Feb. 4), and Fettuccine Alfredo to stay current, as yesterday was National Fettuccine Alfredo Day. And that’s why I love keeping up with this—I’m making (tasty) things that I probably wouldn’t ever make if I wasn’t ‘required’ to.
Now I’ll have a spoonful of Nutella over lunch to make up for World Nutella Day on May 5, I’ll make Molasses Oatmeal Bars tomorrow to make up for National Molasses Bar Day today (unless I’m somehow up for baking them after Happy Hour), and then I’ll be golden!

Yesterday was National Chopsticks Day, which was the perfect occasion for my first trip to International Market on Belmont. I ordered the India Noodle, and am super excited there’s some still left for me to eat for lunch today. Plus the steamed pork and red bean buns were the closest thing I’ve had to dim-sum since I was in China. Pork dumplings were killer, too.
YAY for trying new things! (And T should totally take all the credit, since I was more than a little skeptical at first…) Now tonight we catch up with a triple threat: Stuffed Mushrooms, Nutella, and Fettuccine Alfredo!
(Not all at once, geez.)

February 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were National Baked Alaska Day, Heavenly Hash Day, and Carrot Cake Day, respectively. With it being my birthday weekend followed by the Super Bowl, I (justifiably) got a little off track… but not off track enough to say it doesn’t count!

For Baked Alaska Day, I made Baked Alaska-Ettes, courtesy of Food.com (go figure), then Heavenly Hash on its day, then bought Carrot Cake cupcakes from Cupcake Collection as a Super Bowl/food-holiday-appropriate treat.

Now I just need to catch up on Stuffed Mushrooms from yesterday and Nutella for today. Thursday will be the day!

This might look terrible, but it was seriously one of the best grilled cheeses I’ve ever had. National Croissant Day (yesterday) might’ve converted me to strictly croissant grilled cheeses forever.

Two days ago was National Corn Chip Day, so I made nachos as an appetizer for T & I… but forgot to take a picture until my half was already gone. Ha.

Little evidence is better than no evidence!

National Blueberry Pancake Day means breakfast dinner, courtesy of IHOP!

Breakfast dinner holds a sentimental place in my heart, since it was one of Dad’s go-to’s when I was really little. There are few things more comforting to me than scrambled eggs (etc.) after the sun goes down.

Confidence booster!

I’m the same dress size as J.Lo and Beyonce, and the same height and dress size as Cindy Crawford.

Yes I will take that and keep it in my back pocket, thank you very much.
